Born in Taunton in 1960, Ian Poulton grew up in the Langport area, where his family roots go back at least four centuries.
Living in Ireland from 1983 until 2017, he was an Anglican priest for more than thirty years.
Returning to Somerset in 2017, he trained as a teacher in Weston-Super-Mare.
He taught in Gloucestershire for two years before going back to Dublin to teach in a secondary school in the west of the city.
